Faust
Faust
Co-production with Cankarjev Dom Ljubljana
In collaboration with the Opernhaus Zürich
As often demonstrated in the rich flow of theatrical history, adaptations of literary classics have proven to be varying degrees of success – from total failures to faithful reinterpretations to flawless spectacles that stand on their own within their respective mediums. The same holds true for Goethe’s philosophical drama or tragedy, “Faust,” which, despite numerous musical adaptations, remains a significant challenge in the realm of dance. In his dance manifestation, Edward Clug brings a unique interpretation and vision of this work, seamlessly combining the musical mysticism of Milko Lazar with extraordinary athletic energy and his own movement poetry. By merging all three elements, Clug creates a spectacle that, with irony and parody, can uncover the numerous dissonances and contradictions of human existence.
